Questions and answers

Don't see yours? Call us.

Do you diagnose sleep apnea?

No. A physician diagnoses sleep apnea, after a sleep test. We make the oral appliance a physician recommends, and we follow up.

Do I need a referral?

For a screening visit, no. For an appliance we ask for your physician's recommendation and sleep test report first.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill most PPO medical plans and most PPO dental plans, and your plan decides what it covers. We check before your first visit and tell you what it leaves to you. Our fees page has the details.

What if I don't have insurance?

You get a written estimate before we start, and a good faith estimate in writing on request. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

No. We aren't enrolled. Call us and we'll help you find a nearby office that is.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure, not pain, when an appliance is fitted, and some soreness while they get used to it. Tell us what you feel and we adjust it, and we stop whenever you ask.

How often do I need X-rays or a scan?

Your dentist decides. We use a scan of your teeth to make an appliance, and we take X-rays only when they answer a question about your teeth or jaw.

Are you my regular dentist?

No. We make appliances and check teeth, jaw and bite around them. Keep seeing your own dentist for cleanings and fillings, and we'll send them a note.

Do you see children?

We see adults. If your child snores or struggles to breathe at night, talk to their pediatrician.

What counts as an emergency?

We don't run an emergency service. For trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, or bleeding that won't stop, call 911 or go to an emergency room. For a broken tooth or a lost crown, call us and we'll tell you what to do.

Do you offer sedation?

No. Nothing we do here needs it.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes, always. You'll have it before any work starts.

How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call us as early as you can and we'll find another time.
