Follow-up and adjustments
The visits after the fitting: small changes to how the appliance sits, checks on your teeth, jaw and bite, and a note to your physician after each one.
Services
What happens
Short visits at first, then a check a couple of times a year.
- 01
Step 1: A fit check
We ask how you're sleeping with it and where it rubs, and we look at how it sits.
- 02
Step 2: Adjustments
Small changes to the fit, made together with what your physician has asked for.
- 03
Step 3: A tooth and bite check
We look at your teeth, gums and bite for changes, and tell you what we see.
- 04
Step 4: A note to your physician
We send the visit's notes. Your physician decides about a repeat sleep test.
Services
Before you decide
Comfort
Adjusting an appliance doesn't need numbing. Tell us what hurts and where, and we change it before you leave.
Alternatives and waiting
Skipping follow-up leaves a worn or poorly fitting appliance unchecked. If you can't come in, call us and we'll find a time.
Risks and after-care
Teeth and bite can shift slowly with an appliance, which is why we check them. Call us if your bite feels different or a tooth feels loose.
How it's billed
Follow-up visits are billed as the plan allows, and some are included in what you paid for the appliance. You get a written estimate before any work starts, and we never quote a price over the phone.
How fees workWho provides it
Care here is provided by a general dentist: Dr. Beverly Bellamy or Dr. Tatiana Lozano. Each one's license is listed in the footer.
Meet the dentistsWhat it isn't
A follow-up visit doesn't tell you whether your sleep apnea is under control. Only a repeat sleep test, ordered by your physician, does.
Questions about follow-up
How often will I come in?
More often at first, then about twice a year. We tell you the plan at the fitting, and your physician may ask for more.
Do you send notes to my physician?
Yes, after each visit, with your permission. You can ask to see them.
What if I move?
Ask us for your records and a note for a dentist near you who makes and adjusts oral appliances.
