Night guards

A custom guard that fits over your teeth at night and protects them from grinding. It is not a treatment for sleep apnea.

Services

What happens

Usually two visits: a scan, then the fitting.

  1. 01

Step 1: We check your teeth

Wear, flat spots and cracks, and how your jaw feels when it moves.

  2. 02

Step 2: We check your sleep history

If a physician has diagnosed sleep apnea, we check with them that a guard suits you.

  3. 03

Step 3: A scan, and the guard is made

We scan your teeth and a dental lab makes the guard from the scan.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Fitting and adjustments

We fit it, adjust how your teeth meet it, and show you how to clean it.

Services

Before you decide

  • Comfort

A guard can feel bulky for the first few nights. We adjust it if it presses or rubs, and we stop whenever you ask.

  • Alternatives and waiting

Store-bought guards are an option. A custom guard fits your bite and we can adjust it. Without a guard, grinding keeps wearing at your teeth.

  • Risks and after-care

A guard that doesn't fit well can change how your teeth meet or sore your jaw. We check the fit and tell you how to clean and store it.

  • How it's billed

A night guard is usually billed to a dental plan, and your plan decides what it pays. You get a written estimate before any work starts, and we never quote a price over the phone.

    How fees work
  • Who provides it

Care here is provided by a general dentist: Dr. Beverly Bellamy or Dr. Tatiana Lozano. Each one's license is listed in the footer.

    Meet the dentists
  • What it isn't

A night guard protects teeth. It doesn't treat sleep apnea, and it doesn't replace an appliance your physician recommends.

Questions about night guards

How do I know if I grind my teeth?

Often a partner hears it, or you wake with a sore jaw, and your dentist sees wear. We look at your teeth and tell you what we see.

Can I wear a night guard if I have sleep apnea?

Ask your physician and us first. We check that a guard suits what your sleep test showed.

How often is a guard replaced?

It depends on how hard you grind and how you care for it. We check its wear at your visits.
